GUCCI by Tom Ford Backpack

Fancy Gucci by Tom Ford Fall 1994 runway and ad campaign documented small black patent bamboo backpack.

Description

Tom Ford’s tenure at Gucci was a key moment in fashion history. In 1992 the Texan designer was appointed design director, and in 1994, creative director. His aesthetic of pared-down minimalism and understated yet flirty luxury became iconic.

From the house of Gucci's Fall 1994 collection, this rare retro-inspired backpack with its bamboo handle embodies Ford's design language.

I am delighted to have found documentation of a black smooth leather sister version walking the runway, Gucci's advertising campaign of that year (see the pictures after the label shot) and a Vanity Fair article by Judy Bachrach from July 1995 saying "Its relatively new backpack is now a best-seller. The classic little bamboo handles have maintained their desirability. (...) Designer Tom Ford's new line of ready-to-wear has received extravagant praise in the fashion press. Today, Gucci rules."

PLEASE NOTE that I sell the medium sized twin of this design in white patent leather as well. It is available below.

The small sized fancy backpack is made from black patent leather and features the iconic bamboo top handle. It comes with gold-toned hardware, a drawstring closure at top covered by a front flap, one exterior front flap pocket with bamboo turn-lock closure and adjustable double shoulder straps.

The interior is lined with Gucci's diamanté fabric in black. One interior zip pocket with a lovely double "GG" zip charm. "GUCCI MADE IN ITALY" stamped on the rounded leather tag inside with its serial number on reverse: 003 2058 0030.

This treasure, like several others that are already available in my shop and more to be listed gradually, comes direct from a German socialite and fashion collector so has not been on the market prior to this.

Condition

This backpack is in excellent vintage condition. The slightest signs of wear/storage. Interior pristine.

GUCCI by Tom Ford Frame Bag

Sleek Gucci by Tom Ford Fall 1996 ad campaign documented black leather shoulder frame bag.

Description

Tom Ford’s tenure at Gucci was a key moment in fashion history. In 1992 the Texan designer was appointed design director, and in 1994, creative director. His aesthetic of pared-down minimalism and understated yet flirty luxury became iconic.

From the house of Gucci''s Fall 1996 collection, this sophisticated shoulder bag embodies Ford''s design language. The twin of it in brown pony was photographed for the design house's ad campaign (see the picture after the shot with the dust bag).

Vogue Runway writes about the Fall 1996 collection: "Tom Ford’s super-sexy Fall 1995 show for Gucci was, as Vogue’s Sarah Mower has put it, “one of those hitting-in-the-solar-plexus moments” for the fashion set. Two seasons later, his Fall 1996 show had the same effect for a much broader audience, now receptive to Ford’s new/old take on glamour, and tiring of the waif. “People were maybe a little bit too afraid to celebrate hedonism on the runway,” Ford later said. Not so the be-stubbled Texan.”

This treasure, like several others that are already available in my storefront and more to be listed gradually, comes direct from a German socialite and fashion collector so has not been on the market prior to this.

Crafted in Italy, the rigid frame bag features a black smooth leather body with a glamorous rectangular-shaped gold metal snap-clasp closure with GUCCI writing and gold metal hardware. Double leather shoulder straps.

Lined in black leather. One internal zipped pocket with a lovely "GG" zipper charm and one slot pocket. Protective metal feet. "GUCCI MADE IN ITALY" stamped in gold on the rounded tag inside with its serial number on reverse: 0017811735. Comes with its original dust bag.

Its versatility is sure to bring a timeless flair to every outfit.

GUCCI by Tom Ford Backpack

Fancy Gucci by Tom Ford S/S 1994 ad campaign medium white patent bamboo backpack.

Description

Tom Ford’s tenure at Gucci was a key moment in fashion history. In 1992 the Texan designer was appointed design director, and in 1994, creative director. His aesthetic of pared-down minimalism and understated yet flirty luxury became iconic.

From the house of Gucci's S/S 1994 collection, this rare retro-inspired backpack with its bamboo handle embodies Ford's design language. I am delighted to have found documentation of it with Gucci's advertising campaign of that year and a Vanity Fair article by Judy Bachrach from July 1995 saying "Its relatively new backpack is now a best-seller. The classic little bamboo handles have maintained their desirability. (...) Designer Tom Ford's new line of ready-to-wear has received extravagant praise in the fashion press. Today, Gucci rules."

PLEASE NOTE that I sell the smaller twin of this design in black patent leather as well. It is available above.

The medium sized backpack is made from white patent leather and features the iconic bamboo top handle, silver-tone hardware, a drawstring closure at top with an additional bamboo-detailed buckle closure at the front flap, two exterior flap pockets with bamboo turn-lock closures and two adjustable flat shoulder straps.

The interior is lined with Gucci's diamanté fabric in tan. One interior zip pocket. "GUCCI MADE IN ITALY" stamped in silver on the rounded tag inside with its serial number on reverse: 003 2058 0016 5. Comes with its original dust bag.

This treasure, like several others that are already available in my shop and more to be listed gradually, comes direct from a German socialite and fashion collector so has not been on the market prior to this.

Condition

This backpack is in very good vintage condition. Overall slight signs of wear/storage. Minor indentations on base and edges. Moderate creasing on straps/drawstring. Interior pristine.

Measurements

Height: 31 cm – 12.20" (without handle)

Width: 30 cm – 11.81"

Depth: 10 cm – 3.94"

ELIZABETH ARDEN Case

Beautiful 1950s/1960s black crocodile pattern leather vanity case or handbag by Elizabeth Arden.

Description

"As air travel became more popular from the 1930s, luggage allowed into aeroplane cabins had to be light and small enough to fit within the limited storage space. Cosmetics companies such as Elizabeth Arden began to produce compact vanity cases, (...) which became associated with the glamour of flying." – Courtesy of Victoria and Albert Museum, London

This is a rare and incredibly chic original 1950s/1960s Elizabeth Arden top handle vanity case in excellent condition. Thanks to its unusual design for a beauty case, it can be used perfectly as an overnight case or handbag as well.

Made from a glossy black crocodile pattern leather outside, the interior is lined in black edged ruby leather. The design features a structured silhouette with two top handles, protective metal feet and a perfectly working gold metal flip-lock closure. A detachable key hood in matching leather houses the original key.

There are two main compartments, one for your beauty products – where the lining is covered with wipeable clear plastic – with a series of adjustable leather loops where you can secure bottles and containers. The other one has two gusseted slip pockets, one of them carrying a black leather stand-up mirror. Love the ruby moiré lining of the mirror's reverse! The compartments are divided by a zipped pocket to separate smaller essentials. Stamped inside "Elizabeth Arden". Comes with a white dust bag.

A usable and collectable piece of beauty and fashion history that would be a wonderful addition to any museum! The case comes direct from a fashionable German client and has not been on the market prior to this.

EMILIO PUCCI Bag & Belt

Wonderful and rare signature print clutch or shoulder bag with matching tie belt set by Emilio Pucci from the 1970s.

Description

This is an amazing 1970s Emilio Pucci set of a clutch bag and a matching tassel belt. Both pieces are two-in-one: the bag has attached a golden skinny chain strap that can be tucked away for it to be a true clutch or used to be able to carry it as a shoulder or even a cross-body bag. The belt can be styled either around the waist or hip as a rope belt or neck as a lariat necklace.

Both bag and belt feature one of Pucci's fabulous signature floral prints in raspberry pink, taupe and cream on a light taupe background. The fabric is signed throughout. The beautiful and somehow neutral colour scheme makes it work with a range of other shades.

The envelope style bag is covered in silk and showcases the Emilio Pucci monogram in gold metal at the center front. It consists of a single compartment, is fully lined in black satin and has a fold-over snap closure. Stamped inside on a leather label "EMILIO PUCCI BAGS MADE IN ITALY".

The matching tie belt or necklace consists of a thin silk jersey fabric body that is beautifully finished with two gold metal chain tassels that are topped with the characteristic "EP" initials. One size fits all.

MOSCHINO COUTURE Bag

Exceptional early 1990s MOSCHINO COUTURE by Redwall "I Love Venice" handbag from Franco Moschino's "Cruise Me Baby" collection.

Description

Early Moschino pieces designed by Franco Moschino himself – often referred to as Italian fashion's "enfant terrible" – within the short period when he launched the House of Moschino in 1983 until he passed away in 1994 are sought after and highly collectible. This treasure, like several others that are already available in our shop, comes direct from a German socialite and fashion collector so has not been on the market prior to this.

This rare early 1990s MOSCHINO COUTURE bag from his iconic "Cruise Me Baby" collection is a homage to Venice, Italy, and a wonderful example of Franco Moschino's fanciful designs. It captures the fun vibe that Moschino has always represented as a brand.

The matching jacket from this collection will be available soon. Please see last picture and inquire for details meanwhile.

The classic Kelly-style design plays with the Venice gondoliers theme. The ribbed fabric front and back, the detachable shoulder strap and the leather top handle are red and white striped and reminiscent of the gondoliers' sweaters. The smooth leather flap in light blue – which is acknowledged as the colour of Venice – is appliquéd with a lovely black gondola. The sides and the bottom are crafted from smooth black leather. On the right side sits a gold metal winged lion – the symbol of Venice – holding a book below its paw with the sentence "I ♡ VENICE" written in it. Four ornate gold metal bag feet.

The bag features a charming gold metal turn lock closure and has one inner compartment with an inside zippered pocket. The zipper pull metal tag is embossed with "redwall® Made in Italy" and the serial number "433026" on one side and "CENTOPERCENTO MOSCHINO" on the reverse side. The bag is lined in black "redwall" signed fabric and comes with a detachable red and white striped ribbed fabric shoulder strap and its original "Redwall" dust bag. The gold metal hardware of the shoulder strap is embossed with "redwall".

Condition

This bag is in overall excellent vintage condition. Minimal signs of use and storage to the flap, one bottom corner and the bottom. Handle, sides, shoulder strap, interior and hardware flawless.
