Incredible circa 1971 signature print Emilio Pucci two-piece bikini.
Description
Add a dose of Emilio Pucci's 1970s signature jet set glamour to your beachwear or vintage fashion collection. This fabulous and rare circa 1971 two-piece bikini top and bottom is made from pure cotton twill and splashed with one of Pucci's iconic abstract prints in shades of pink, purple, brown and cream. Love the stylized drop border print around bra cups and at top of bottoms.
I am happy to have found documentation with a Vogue editorial shot from 1971 by Henry Clarke showing a model wearing a bikini top of the same cut and a similar print like ours. Please see last picture.
The triangle shaped top features thin non-elastic spaghetti straps and a center back button and loop closure. The cups are unpadded, underwire free and lined in pink cotton. Very 70s!
The matching bottoms are set very low on the hip and have elastic on both sides. They are partially lined inside of the waistband and have a cotton gusset.
Both pieces are signed throughout “Emilio". The labels read “Emilio Pucci FLORENCE – ITALY" and “100% PURE COTTON“. The top is marked a Size 8 (Vintage).
Condition
This bikini is in overall very good condition. The bottom's elastic on both sides of the waistband has been replaced. Inner gusset cotton lining is clean. A few scattered, darker spots / discoloration at the bottoms' lower back area. Not visible when worn. Pleaser refer to the image provided. Freshly cleaned.
